Exclusive seminar of latest standard ASTM F1487-25

In June 2025, ASTM International released a revised consumer safety performance specification for playground equipment for public use, designated as ASTM F1487-25. In view of the impacts of the new standard would bring to children’s playground design, Anne Marden Playright Academy has invited Mr Kenneth S. Kutska, Chairperson of ASTM Subcommittee for performance requirements for public playground equipment, to host a seminar for professionals of the sector.

 

The seminar will reinforce the requirement for designers and manufacturers of playground equipment to conduct a benefit and risk assessment of new products and designs of playgrounds and playground equipment that is not specifically defined within the current standard.

 

In addition, the inclusion of new requirements for Fully Enclosed Structures and Fully Enclosed Slides will also be addressed. These requirements provide the opportunity to consider the reduction of the equipment’s fall height which may also reduce the performance requirements for the critical height rating of the protective impact attenuating surfacing under and around the playground equipment required use zones and also may reduce the use zone special requirements for the protective surfacing.
